Atheneum Lier Campus Louis Zimmer: Growing Internationally with Erasmus+

Atheneum Lier Campus Louis Zimmer has been actively engaged in the Erasmus+ network since 2023, strengthening our commitment to international cooperation and high-quality global learning opportunities.

Our Erasmus+ Journey

In September 2023, we launched our first short-term Erasmus project. Seventeen staff members participated in professional training abroad, significantly expanding our international network. This project was evaluated by Epos vzw, our National Agency, as an Example of Good Practice with a score of 80%.

In 2024, we obtained our Erasmus accreditation, enabling us to organise Erasmus projects on a long-term and structural basis. During the 2024–2025 school year, we coordinated group exchanges for students, individual student internships, and professional development courses for staff. This project year was awarded the Example of Good Practice label by Epos vzw with an outstanding score of 97%.

Continuing Our Growth

In the current 2025–2026 school year, we continue to expand our international activities. We have already organised more individual student internships than in the previous year. Group exchanges remain a key component of our Erasmus programme, and several colleagues are once again participating in valuable training courses abroad.

Looking ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, we aim to further broaden our Erasmus activities by introducing job shadowing opportunities for staff members. At the same time, we remain committed to our existing pillars: internships, group exchanges, and professional training. Through these initiatives, we continue to build a strong and inspiring international learning environment for both our students and our team.

  • An inclusive classroom: how to give equal access and resources to all students

Promoting inclusive education is one of the strategic objectives for co-operation in education and training at the EU-level. The first principle of the European Pillar of social rights underlines that: “Everyone has the right to quality and inclusive education, training and life-long learning in order to maintain and acquire skills that enable them to participate fully in society and manage successfully transitions in the labour market”. Inclusive education is a way to give all children a chance to go to school, learn, and develop the skills they need to thrive.
